The Courtauld's A Bar at the Folies-Bergère by Edouard Manet has been nominated as one of the top 10 greatest paintings in Britain in a national poll run by the BBC Radio 4 Today Programme and the National Gallery.
Deborah Swallow, Director of the Courtauld Institute of Art, said "We are delighted that Manet's A Bar at the Folies-Bergère has been nominated by the British public. This painting has graced the Courtauld since 1934 when Samuel Courtauld gave it to the Courtauld Institute of Art, where it has been enjoyed by many thousands of visitors and students. We hope the British public will continue to support this outstanding painting by voting for it in the second round of the 'The Greatest Painting in Britain' poll."
