This collection, which reflects the keen interest of the owners in British art, includes paintings, works on paper, and bronzes by many of the most important British mid-20th century artists such as Paul Nash, John Minton, Peter Lanyon, Roger Hilton, Keith Vaughan, Graham Sutherland, John Craxton, William Scott, Ivon Hitchens, Patrick Heron, Prunella Clough, Frank Dobson, Elizabeth Frink, William Turnbull and Bernard Meadows. The collection also includes works by earlier artists, namely Walter Sickert, Stanley Spencer and Wilson Steer, and examples of contemporary British ceramics, glass and furniture by some of today’s leading practitioners, as well as some British decorative arts from earlier ages.
