The dramatic lighting and intense naturalism of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio’s paintings inspired a multitude of artists during his lifetime and in the decades immediately following his untimely death. Beyond Caravaggio is the first major UK exhibition to explore the impact of Caravaggio’s work both on the art of his contemporaries and followers. Head of the Curatorial Department and Curator of Italian and Spanish Paintings 1600 – 1800, Letizia Treves will provide an introduction to the exhibition.
