A unique opportunity to discover Farley’s House and Gallery, Home of the Surrealists Lee Miller and Roland Penrose in a small, private group of Alumni and Friends of The Courtauld with their son Antony Penrose and granddaughter Ami Bouhassane. Together they offer an intimate and unique insight into the world of their family and the Surrealists during a full afternoon private visit and guided tour. It will also be the last opportunity to meet Carole Callow the photographic printer, who has had sole responsibility for printing from a selection of more than 60,000 negatives in the Lee Miller Archive.
Lee Miller and Roland Penrose came to live at Farley’s in 1949 and for the 35 years that followed they built up a collection of contemporary art treasures, many of which were created by their friends and visitors including Pablo Picasso, Man Ray, Max Ernst, Leonora Carrington and Joan Miró. The works of these and numerous others are exhibited in the house alongside those of Penrose and Miller providing visitors a fascinating look into the world of the Surrealists.

Farley’s Farm is in a rural setting in East Sussex. Alumni or Friends not driving and wishing to share taxis from Lewes station can leave expressions of interest on our Facebook Forum . London to Lewes just over 1 hour by train from Victoria.
