Join us for our next networking event, in association with Young Professionals in the Arts and the Peggy Society, on Saturday 9th September from 12 -2pm at the AB Foundry, 1 Fawe Street, London E14 6PD (nearest station is Langdon Park on the DLR) for a tour of the foundry followed by a visit to the studio of Jonathan Trayte (next door) where there will be refreshments
We will meet directly opposite the entrance of the foundry – please arrive at 11.45am for a 12 noon start

AB Foundry
Following on from a highly popular event in 2016 we will be making another visit to AB Fine Art Foundry, which is regarded as one of Europe’s leading art foundries specialising in bronze casting. It has produced work for Anish Kapoor, Anthony Gormley, Rachel Whiteread, Tracey Emin and the Chapman Brothers among many others. You may see works by some of these artists in various stages of completion around the foundry. Photography and video recording is strictly prohibited.
Jonathan Trayte
Using a wide range of materials, methods and processes, Jonathan Trayte’s work reinterprets modern consumer behaviour and explores the psychology of desire through surface, material, light and colour. From processed meats and melons to giant gourds and exotic yams, Trayte often transforms organic objects into cast and painted bronze. Once assembled and delicately stacked in precarious arrangements, the work is then coated in meticulously painted layers. Glossy synthetic skins of paint give the work a colourful pop status, a chameleon appearance and an almost edible quality.
Trayte (b. 1980, Huddersfield) studied at the Royal Academy Schools and the University of the Creative Arts Canterbury. He will be exhibiting at Christie’s in mid-September with a wide range of bronze and stainless light sculptures alongside designer Anton Alvarez, and in December at Castor Projects in Deptford. Previous exhibitions include Identify your Limitations, Vitrine Basel, Switzerland, Milk, Christies, London (2016), Polyculture, The Tetley, Leeds (2016); The Shoppers Guide, Converse X Dazed at Royal Academy of Arts, London (2015); Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2011 and 2009, Newcastle/Sheffield/London.
