Friends and Alumni Portcullis House Portraiture Tour

Fri 26 Nov, 2021

This is an opportunity to have a guided tour of Portcullis House, the only new building commissioned by Parliament since the Palace of Westminster in the 19th century. Portcullis House was designed by leading British architect Michael Hopkins and officially opened in February 2001.

We will also enjoy a guided tour of The House of Commons contemporary portrait collection which is displayed in Portcullis House. The tour will comprise 20th century portraits of senior Parliamentarians, including Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair, in paintings, works on paper and photographs. The collection reflects a diversity of styles and approaches by UK-based artists over the last 50 years and includes works by Grayson Perry, Gerald Scarfe and Andrew Tift.

The tour takes about 75 minutes and includes a visit to the first floor Committee Corridor of Portcullis House and followed by an optional lunch in the Jubilee Cafe in the Palace of Westminster.
